The Guillaume Hessel Scholarship

An annual Instagram photo contest which showcases the experience of our participants. It is our hope that this scholarship honours Guillaume Hessel and his personal philosophy of life that applied the thought that Canadians can attain inner serenity through cultural exchanges. This scholarship aims to facilitate this process by encouraging young Canadians to participate in the Languages at Work program. Guillaume Hessel was a former Coordinator for Young Canada Works. He was active in the program’s development and positive evolution for many years, and dedicated a lot of his time, energy, and enthusiasm to the program. He personally took on the many responsibilities necessary for the delivery of the program, and was able to easily align himself with its social and individual objectives. It is in peace and tranquility that Guillaume Hessel passed away on April 27th, 2003 at the young age of 26. For seven years he battled with cancer, not letting it change his way of life. In fact, his will and his joie de vivre attitude permitted him to work, travel, and study. Enveloped in good humour and with openness to all, Guillaume had the ability to conquer everyone’s heart. He positively transformed many lives by always being ready to lend a hand while ensuring that everyone was having fun.é la vie de tous ceux qui l’ont approché et il laissera à jamais le souvenir d’un chic type, toujours prêt à s’amuser mais aussi à rendre service.
